NFA Laser Engraving
Aegis Cerakote & Gunworks are the NFA engraving professionals to trust with your Form 1 NFA items.
So, you just received your approved NFA ATF Form 1 tax stamp and want to know what to do next. Well, it’s time to get your NFA item engraved to be in compliance with ATF requirements. That means that all Form 1 short barreled rifles, shotguns or suppressors MUST be engraved with the manufacturer’s name who is you or your trust, city and state. Your Name/Trust name city and state can be engraved anywhere it is visible and can be as small as 1/16″ in height. The minimum depth required by the ATF is .003″ but we always engrave deeper to handle Cerakote coatings that might be applied in the future. Aegis Cerakote & Gunworks can engrave underneath an integrated trigger guard found on billet lowers and on the underside of a flared mag well. Keep in mind the text must be visible without dis-assembly.

Same day turnaround engraving while you wait or shipped from out of state.
If you’re local to the Dayton area, we can engrave your item while you wait. If your NFA item is being shipped to us from out of state then you can expect same day laser engraving and return shipping with tracking number confirmation.
Engraving Materials & Locations
Aegis Cerakote & Gunworks can engrave on any aluminum, steel or titanium firearm or suppressor. Areas such as the front mag well must be flat and cannot be textured. Receivers do not need to be stripped prior to engraving, but we encourage our customers to remove items such as the stock, buffer, buffer springs, and buffer tube (if possible) to reduce the weight and size of your shipment. Due to technical limitations when engraving polymer, Aegis Cerakote & Gunworks does not offer a choice of location. If you would like a polymer firearm engraved, please call or email prior to shipment as the ATF requirements for polymer engravings have changed.
All firearms can be shipped directly to Aegis Cerakote & Gunworks and will be returned via USPS priority mail, signature required unless stated otherwise.
FAQ
If you are creating a trust, give it a short name. It’s much easier to engrave JJC Trust rather than Jack Johnson Clarkin Revocable National Firearm Trust. Believe it or not but we’ve actually seen longer trust names come through our shop.
Your name or trust name, and the city and state in which you live. Essentially, stick to what you put in Box 3b of your approved ATF Form 1.
The caliber you put in Box 4c of your Form 1 must be visible somewhere on your fully assembled SBR. So, if your lower says Multi-Caliber, then you need to have the caliber on your barrel. If it’s not on the barrel, you should probably go ahead and add it to the lower.
Pretty much all of the info that’s been addressed so far (name/trust name, city, state, and caliber) plus a little more. In addition to all of that, you’ll need the model (Box 4d) and serial number (Box 4g) that you entered on your Form 1.
Assuming its aluminum, no. You can have it refinished before or after since aluminum doesn’t rust. Like we said earlier, we go deeper than the minimum requirement in the event you choose to have your firearm refinished at a later date. If you’re looking for a very subtle tone-on-tone look, then go with the refinishing afterwards. If you’re looking for the engraving to stand out, then we would recommend having it refinished before the engraving.
